I'll be building a custom desktop soon and hoping to double check that the specs should be good for HD editing. I've been a semi-pro stills guy for years and taking the step into video.... so the computer needs a major overhaul lol. I'm kinda trying to go all out on this build as it'll have to last for a good while. Most of the video work it will see will be stock clips so nothing too intensive, just colour corrections and stabilization tweaks mostly. Anyways if you wouldn't mind taking a look at what I have picked out for the guts I would greatly appreciate it. Main bits are:
Asus P8z68 Motherboard
i7 3820 Ivy Bridge processor
Crucial M4 128gb SSD
WD Caviar Black 1tb HD
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 video card
Thumbs up, thumbs down? I've always heard mixed ideas on the importance of the video card in a dedicated video editing machine. Some say it's not that important, some say go for a full blown workstation card. If all I'm doing is small clips without any major effects being added, I should be okay with this mid range card.... shouldn't I?
