There is one advantage in getting older. You wind up with a backlog of things in your head that were great but now forgotten. It occurred to me while I was setting up my field monitor for a recent shoot that the makers of monitors are missing a great bet. Sun Hoods are always troublesome. They fall into 2 catagories: ridgid plastic shades that break or soft cloth ones that you're always fighting with. View cameras of the past had the same problems, but Graflex who make press cameras (You know the ones with the fold-out bellows) at some point in the late 40s came up with a ingenious solution... flip-up spring loaded metal hoods. You press a small tab and they instantly flipped-up.... and were just as easy to fold back plus they had a tabs on the sides that you could push and remove the entire hood... Graflex in long out of business the pattens have long run-out. This seems like a no-brainer... Anyone Buehler? Buehler?
